The Tourism Sustainability Certification (CST) in Costa Rica is a recognition granted to tourism companies for meeting sustainability criteria. The certification process is carried out by the Costa Rican Tourism Institute (ICT) and involves a series of indicators that assess environmental management, service quality, and the social and cultural responsibility of companies. The certification is granted by the Verification Technical Commission, which is made up of members from various state organizations and is responsible for ensuring that tourism companies meet all required indicators.
The CST is divided into two levels: the basic level and the elite level. The basic level is granted to companies that meet the mandatory legal requirements, while the elite level is awarded to companies that not only meet the mandatory criteria but also demonstrate a commitment to sustainability by integrating innovative practices into their operations.
Studio Hotel Boutique, by 2025, has achieved the highest level of CST, categorized as elite in the accommodation category and for having a restaurant and pool. This recognition affirms the hotel’s commitment to sustainability, not only in relation to its internal impacts but also in regard to the external impacts it generates locally.
